1-2월 큐티 본문 <A Quick Overview of the Bible>

Genesis,

which speaks of the foundation of faith and the beginning of the world.

The term Genesis comes from the Greek word meaning “beginning.” This book covers the beginnings of the uni- verse, humanity, sin, and the Jewish nation. As you read Genesis, you will find answers to three key questions.

‘Who am I?’

‘Where did I come from?’

In answer to the first question, Genesis 1:27 says that humans were created in the image of God. The second answer comes from Genesis 2:7, where it says that God formed man from dust and breathed life into him. The third question is answered in Genesis 1:26, where God in- structs humans to rule over His creation.

The Jan-Feb issue of Shalom QT covers Genesis chapters 1 through 19.

The two key words of Shalom QT are to identify ‘God’s attributes’ and ‘life lessons’ as you read the Scripture. When reading each verse, ask yourself whether the main character is God or a person. If the main character is God, His attributes are revealed in the passage. If the main char- acter is a person or an object, the passage likely contains a life lesson to apply. The characters in Jan-Feb issue’s reading include God, Adam and Eve, Adam’s descendants, Noah, and the descendants of Shem.

Through Genesis, may you encounter the Creator God, who forms the foundation of our faith. Discover His works, His character, and how He guides His relationships with humanity. As you meditate on His Word, you will also see how the fall of man has progressed after God’s creation.
